• How many apps are approved everyday

We came across this post on AppShopper. Wow… 1394 in one day! That makes prefect sense for the time it takes to go through.

It seems a lot of updates are submitted into the AppStore for visibility alone. If you have one of those on-line mafia app, you would know how many updates are published on a weekly basis. Sort by release date in a category seems to be the easiest and the most effective marketing channel for smaller app developers. The alternative is to create something unique or with good production value… That definitely won’t come by 1394 a day.

  • WaterPipe 1.1 ready

It takes longer this time. Must be all the changes in the iTune 9 and AppStore. Finally the updated version should be online now… link to the app.

  • WaterPipe 1.1 submitted

We added ipod music support in version 1.1. Now you can listen to your favorite playlist while crusing along the water pipes. The binary has been submitted to Apple today.

  • WaterPipe game play

There are four game modes in this app: Connect, Replace, Swap and Rotate.

Connect mode is the old fashioned connect the pipe game. Think of Nintendo’s PipeMania without the mania and the fancy artwork. You saw the next pipe, choose a place to drop it. Once the water can reach from top to bottom, then you are done. Nice and easy. Just be careful don’t block your own path in between, cause and consequence.

Replace mode is the old fashioned connect game with a twist. The pipes are pre-filled in the grid. There are so many ways to connect them and somehow it confuses more than the empty grid, where the choices are limited (or none?). Quick decision is the key here. Find the weakest spot and keep dropping the new pipes in until it looks right. Then move on to the next spot.

Swap mode and Rotate mode are both maze puzzles. The difference is how you solve them. Swap mode is asking for your imaginations. Will the world be a better place if I trade these two pipes? Rotate mode is about navigational skills. If I turn this way can I get to the grocery store?… I mean, water bottles.

  • WaterPipe – puzzle factory Released!

    WaterPipe main screen shot screen2 screen3 screen5

That was on target. 12 days after submitted, our first app is now available in iTune’s AppStore. I think we made a mistake though. When we submitted the app we put the “available date” as “Aug 11, 2009″. But now that becomes the release date. The side effect is we will never get a chance to be shown on the first page when the app is sorted by “Released date”… Well, you learn something every day.

Here is a link to the app.

  • WaterPipe submitted

WaterPipe was submitted to Apple’s app store for review! Now it’s waiting time. Finger crossed.

  • Welcome to GemStoneApp.com!

Thank you for visiting our site.

This morning we just read there are over 65000 apps available in Apple’s app store now. Quite a crowd! I guess it does not hurt to put a few more in?
